What inspired the Selk Talk Card Series

The things our smarter selves tell our stupider selves

“They were all brilliant. They wrote books and painted pictures, and if they ever stopped talking, which I was sure they would never do, they planned to change the world.”

The Pinboard and Me

I was in the home of a mad artist friend many years ago. In her studio, she had an equally mad pinboard where she pinned all the bits and pieces that inspired, humored, and titillated her. Under a layer of various creative flotsam and jetsum peeked a little card that said: STOP TALKING.

I didn’t know whether to be offended or delighted. I decided to be delighted. Oh, how many people I would love to give that to!

Stop Talking

Just. Stop. Talking.

Drop that proverbial mike! How many problems would that solve in the world if we just stopped babbling, chatting, thinking out loud, prattling, and jibber-jabbering? What would happen if we actually thought before we spoke?

That inspired me to think about other simple things we could say to ourselves or others (if we dared!!) that could in one fell swoop solve many of our first-world problems.

Hence my SELF TALK series, where I talk to myself.

Join me as I mutter my way to calm.
